At one point, I turned to Adam and said, "It feels like I'm playing Mario Cart!" He thought that was pretty funny, and spent the remainder of the drive comparing tumbleweeds, papers, and whatever else blew around in front of us to the mushrooms and shells that get tossed around in the Nintendo game. Then he started picturing us flipping over whenever we hit an obstacle, or spinning around madly in circles, and was soon joking and laughing like a kid who had no worries.

We got to our destination safe and sound, and only killed a couple of suicidal tumbleweeds on our way, so I'd call it a successful morning. The added bonus: it totally took Adam's mind off his upcoming audition! Whew, talk about a win-win!
