A Happy and Sad Day

September 11th is an interesting day at our house. It is an emotional one, for two reasons. The first is obvious to most of us; we grieve for the losses that our nation endured. The loss of life, innocence, and safety. We cry for those who lost loved ones, friends and family, and hug our own loved ones just a little tighter. We honor those who gave their all to serve, protect, and keep us safe.

At our house, it is also a day of joy. Our son Joshua was born on the one-year anniversary of that sad day. Now we have a reason to laugh, sing, and smile as we rejoice in the hope and optimism of the future.

We love our Josh, and are thankful that he is part of our family. Happy Birthday!
