We took a little trip to the past, to the West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village. The village is quite close to us; it is near the Lark River Valley and was populated from AD 420-650. We toured reconstructed Anglo-Saxon houses, and while they often have living history re-enactments of Dark Ages life, we were not there on the right day. Rats.
It was still interesting to learn about what scientists and archaeologists have found there, and to hear about the experiments they are doing with different types of building structures/materials. It is very much a learning village.
We had a few minutes before our tour began, so we took some time to grab snacks and wander.
Of course, we made sure to browse the gift shop for exciting treasures!
While the family was enjoying the tour, I kept Dallin back to watch the resident pigs. He was fascinated.
He also enjoyed the wandering "kikkens". He didn't even freak out when this guy came right up to us.
Josh got a little tired of the houses, and decided to come outside and jump around.
And did I mention, it was just a bit windy?
Once everyone had seen their fill, it was time to hit the playground!!
This was such a cool climbing structure--everyone had a great time testing their limits.
I think Abby found her limit...
It was a fun and relaxing outing, and the nice thing was, it didn't take up our entire day. There was still plenty of time for chores, homework, Dad to run back to the office to finish up a last-minute project, grocery shopping--you know, the stuff of Labor Day!

Man...you guys have so many fun and exciting places to visit. Hey, honey - let's go to Paris for our anniversary. Then we'll explore a castle or two with the kids.... So jealous. But so excited that you are having so many fun adventures! Maybe one of these days we'll get out there for a visit. So you'll just have to stay out there awhile longer, huh?
